Coastal fishermen in Sundarbans of Khulna adjoining Koira upazila have returned to the coast with their fishing boats on Saturday as the Bay of Bengal turned increasingly turbulent as Cyclone Mocha inches closer to making an impact.

On Saturday morning, around 50 fishing boats were moored at the Sutia Bazar Launch Terminal, near Kashiabad Upazila Forest Station. The fishermen of those boats said that the water level of rivers and other water bodies inside the Sundarbans is rising.

Zakir Hussain, a fisherman from Maharajpur, Koira, said he and his fellow fishermen were in the Sundarbans with permission from the forest department. But the rivers inside the Sundarbans had higher than normal waves. They returned to the coast after hearing the weather forecast.
