Ihsanul Karim was an honest and courageous journalist

Ihsanul Karim died on March 10 while undergoing treatment at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). He was the press secretary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the time of her death.

Ihsanul Karim started his career in 1972 as a staff correspondent of Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha (BSS). He served on various positions in BSS. He served as BSS correspondent in New Delhi, India from 1997 to 2001. He also worked as a journalist for international media including BBC, PTI, The Statesman of India, India Today and others.

After serving for four years as managing director and editor-in-chief of BSS, Ihsanul Karim retired on 12 February 2013. After his retirement from BSS, on 20 May the same year he was appointed as the Press Secretary to President Abdul Hamid and remained in this office until June 2015. On 15 June 2015, he was appointed as the Press Secretary to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for the first time. Was given a one year appointment as. This contract was later extended twice, each time for three years.

Speaking at the commemoration, National Press Club President Farida Yasmin said Ihsanul Karim had given her courage and inspiration in her career as a journalist. His friendly behavior won the hearts of all journalists, young and old. His demise is an irreparable loss.
