A spokesman for Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party told the media, “Another sad day in the history of our judicial system, which is being dismantled.”
It was not immediately clear whether Khan’s sentences would run consecutively or concurrently following the hearing held inside the prison where he has been detained for much of his life since his arrest in August.
But Khan’s lawyer Salman Safdar confirmed to AFP that he was sentenced along with his wife Bushra Bibi, who was on remand throughout the trial.
