“She is being kept in a deplorable condition that is unfit for any human to live in, but she is in good spirits,” Hasan said.
“He said ‘tell people I will not compromise on my principles’.”
The 70-year-old man is being kept in a so-called “C-class cell”, sleeping on a mattress on the floor with only enough space for a prayer mat.
There is little access to daylight and there is a fan in the summer but no air conditioning, Hasan said.
The power of attorney allows Khan’s legal team to file a bail plea on his behalf and also appeals to move him to a more comfortable “A-class cell”, usually reserved for VIP inmates.
“We are hopeful that we will be able to obtain bail and that the sentence will be suspended and the disqualification revoked,” Hasan said.
