Finance Minister AH Mahmud Ali on Thursday proposed an allocation of 947.10 billion taka (94,710 crores) for the education sector in Bangladesh's national budget for the fiscal year 2024-2025, compared to 881.63 billion taka (88,163 crores) in 2023-24.
The Finance Minister proposed the allocation while presenting the national budget in the national parliament on Thursday.
In the proposed budget, Tk 388.19 billion (Tk 38,819 crore) has been proposed for the primary and mass education sector in the national budget for fiscal year 2024-25, which is higher than Tk 347.22 billion (Tk 34,722 crore) for the sector for fiscal year 2023-24.
The secondary and higher education sector has been allocated 441 billion taka (44,108 crore taka) in the proposed budget, up from 428.39 billion taka (42,839 crore taka) in the previous fiscal. The technical and madrasa education division has been proposed to get an allocation of 117.83 billion taka (11,783 crore taka) in FY 2024-25, up from 106 billion taka (10,602 crore taka) in FY 2023-24.
