The 50-over tournament set for the upcoming ODI World Cup in India has been hit by rain, forcing organizers to discuss a change of venue for the upcoming matches in Colombo.
India’s opening match against Pakistan, which was the first team to advance to the next round, was abandoned after only one innings.
In their second innings, India were 17–0 in 2.1 overs when players were forced off the field due to heavy rain and the field was completely covered.
The ground staff worked tirelessly to get the ground ready for play again.
Rohit and Gill came out roaring and hit several fours to reach their respective half-centuries and reach the target. Rohit hit five sixes in his innings of 59 balls.
Man of the match Rohit said, “We can’t really focus too much on these two matches, one got washed out, but fortunately we got a chance to bat in the first game and bowl in this match.”
“We haven’t been at our best, but some people are coming out after being out of the game for months. Once we move into the super force, there is no room for complacency.”
