Indictment hearing in Khaleda Zia’s Niko corruption case on January 30

Due to the non-completion of the hearing today, the court fixed the date of the next hearing.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on 9 December 2007 registered a case of abuse of power at Tejgaon police station against five, including Begum Khaleda Zia, for signing an agreement with the Canadian company Nico for exploration and extraction of gas.

The ACC filed a charge sheet on 5 May 2008 against 11 people including Khaleda Zia. The ACC accused him of causing a loss of more than 130 billion taka to the exchequer from that deal.
