The citizens are facing load-shedding again. The situation of load-shedding is happening in almost every where in the country. According to PDB yesterday (Sunday) the consumption of power was at its peak of 5,350 Megawatt. There was a shortage of 1,288 MW.

For about a week the supply of gas to fertilizer factory reduced the production of power. Several generators are also unable to operate due to maintenance. In winter the demand for power may fall short and a number of oil based power plants will come to operation. But during next January & February the demand for irrigation will increase. The situation thus may not be in a good form in the next year compared to last year

However, the government will sign contracts with different companies to install 25 more power plants within the next six months.

The decision came at a weekly cabinet meeting in Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.

Prime minister’s Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad briefed reporters after the meeting.
