Iranian protester sentenced to death allowed re-trial: Judiciary

Nurmohammed-Zadeh is the third person sentenced to death to be allowed a re-trial after Kurdish rapper Saman Sedi, also known as Saman Yasin, and Mahan Sadrat.

Earlier in December, Iran executed two people in connection with the protests.

Majidreza Rahnward, 23, was publicly hanged on 12 December after being sentenced to death by a court in the city of Mashhad for stabbing two members of the security forces to death.

Four days earlier, Mohsin Shekhri, 23, was also given the death penalty for injuring a member of the security forces.

The judiciary said nine others were sentenced to death, while campaigners said dozens of protesters this week faced charges that could lead to the death penalty.
