Israel orders more Gaza evacuations as envoys demand ceasefire

Israel said on Wednesday its troops had uncovered a tunnel network used by Hamas leaders, including the Islamic movement’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar.

The army released the footage, saying it showed a “large network” connecting bases and residences around Gaza City’s Palestine Square.

The army reported close-range fighting and more than 300 attacks over the previous day.

Israel’s military said three soldiers were killed on Wednesday, bringing the death toll of its troops in the Gaza Strip to 137 since the ground operation began in late October.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported Thursday that Israeli forces launched an overnight crackdown in the West Bank.

AFPTV live cameras filmed two bombs on Wednesday in Rafah, where many of the region’s estimated 1.9 million displaced people have fled.

Hamas’ health ministry said at least 12 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes that “targeted” homes and a mosque in Rafah.

It later said at least 30 more people were killed in Israeli strikes on two houses east of Khan Younis.

A crowd gathered among the debris and began digging with shovels and backhoes to try to recover the victims. A black body covered in blood was lying on the ground under a blue blanket.

“Enough is enough. We have lost everything and we can’t take it anymore,” Samar Abu Luli, a woman in Rafah, said after an Israeli attack on the city’s al-Shabura neighborhood.

UN rights expert Francesca Albanese said Israel was attacking Gaza’s health system, with their attacks “taking the most tragic form”.
