Jamaican authorities have seized an estimated $80 million worth of cocaine from a ship at the port of Kingston in one of the country’s biggest drug busts, officials said.
Jamaican authorities discovered a shipment hidden inside a cargo ship from South America with an estimated street value of $80 million, the Jamaican Constabulary Force said in a statement late Saturday.
Police said a search of the cargo ship turned up more than 1,500 kilograms (3,306 lb) of cocaine. The Jamaican Defense Force said in a separate statement that the baggage was divided into 50 bags containing 1,250 packages.
