Juba Dal leader Abul Kalam Azad dies in hospital after arrest in sabotage case

Singra Police Station, Natore Jail and sources of the victim’s family said that Singra Police has arrested Abul Kalam Azad in a case of sabotage registered at Singra Police Station on the night of October 28.

When he was produced in the court the next day, the court ordered him to be sent to Natore jail. On November 30, the court accepted his bail petition.

Romi Begum went to Natore jail to inform her husband about his bail and learned that her husband had suffered a stroke in the jail on the evening of 29 November. He was taken from jail to Natore Sadar Hospital in an ill condition at 7:33 pm.

When his condition deteriorated, the jail authorities shifted him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Romi reached Natore Sadar Hospital to see her husband, but by then the jail authorities had taken him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. She went to the hospital that night and saw Abul Kalam Azad lying unconscious on the hospital floor.
