K-Fest, organized by BD K-Family, took place on 10 November at Tokyo Square Convention Centre, Mohammadpur, Dhaka. Starting in 2010, ‘BD K-Family’ was a small regular Facebook group of only 5 members, which has gradually grown into a family of thousands. Founder Tashnuwa Zahn shared information about the inspiration behind organizing the Korean festival, “Since 2015, our journey in organizing Korean-themed events has been continuously evolving, and in 2016, K-Fest was born. Happened. My personal passion towards K-pop and K-dramas inspired me to start K-Meet Up within our community, where K-culture fans get to know more people who share their same interests. . During these gatherings, it became clear that there were many fans who were exceptionally talented. This inspired me to create a platform where these talented individuals could shine. To increase excitement, I started K-pop competitions, which led to K-Fest.
The BD K-family is actively promoting South Korean culture and strengthening Bangladeshi and South Korean diplomatic and cultural relations. They independently organize various events throughout the year, and the South Korean Embassy also cooperates with them on most occasions. Co-founder Tina Zahn is a lawyer by profession, yet no matter how busy she is, she always finds time to promote Korean culture.
