Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leaders and workers allegedly attacked a pickup van carrying Awami League leaders and workers in front of Kakrail Mosque at around 12:15 pm, triggering the clash. A chase and retaliation took place between the BNP personnel and the police, turning the entire Kakrail area into a battlefield.
