LNG to be imported from spot market to meet summer demand, PM tells JS

This is the reason why the government has decided to increase the price of gas used only in power, industry, captive power and commercial sectors while keeping other consumer groups unchanged.

It said: “The process of importing LNG from the spot market has already been adopted to meet the gas demand in the said areas.”

Responding to another question by ruling party MLA Kazim Uddin Ahmed, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh’s phenomenal success in increasing agricultural production and achieving food self-sufficiency during the Awami League government has attracted the attention of the world.

Sheikh Hasina, head of the ruling Awami League, said that according to her party’s election manifesto, one of the goals of the government is to ensure food security and increase exports of agricultural products.

“For this purpose, our government carried out fertilizer management reforms, and is providing incentives to small and marginal farmers during natural calamities and development assistance in agricultural inputs, including fertilizers,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that development assistance is being given to agricultural machinery to implement modern farming systems in the country.
