Local people of Barapukuria blocked rail road with Dinajpur and other parts of the country since Wednesday morning. They blocked railway in protest of open pit mining in 
Barapukuria Coal Mine as planned by the government.
The villagers put logs on rail road near Rasulpur in Parbotipur upazila. They started protesting under the banner of national committee to protect oil, gas, minerals resources.
Agitated people also blocked Barapukuria regional highway
The demonstrators vowed to protect Barapikiria. If necessary they would stop coal lifting.
Barapukuria coal mine authority says the government is yet to decide open pit coal mine.
