Malibagh kitchen market, a formalin free market

Formalin is a chemical which can kill germs and used to preserve biological specimens in laboratories. But formalin cannot be used to preserve food items like fish and fruits. Formalin is very hazardous for health; it may cause many fatal diseases including cancer.

It seems this trend of using formalin to store food items is unstoppable. Mobile courts and the authority have tried to curb this. At the end FBCCI have decided to make Malibagh kitchen market as a formalin free market. They have distributed some formalin detection kit to the monitoring team. Members of this team are checking every food items before taking it to this market. The team is also checking for another hazardous chemical ‘carbide’.

Consumers are happy. They want the continuation of this inspection team. FBCCI is planning to distribute more detection kit to ten more kitchen markets in the capital.
