Masked attacks on opposition leaders: Unknown criminals strike again

Regarding the incident, Naugaon Sadar police station in-charge (OC) Faisal Bin Ahsan said that CCTV footage was collected from a house nearby the site of the attack. The footage revealed the presence of six to seven attackers, but no one could be identified due to their helmets and cloth tied over their faces.

The initial incident of the attacks in Naugaon took place on the evening of September 24 at Amgram Junction near Kaligram Union Parishad in Raninagar upazila. Anwar Hussain, a member of the convening committee of Upazila Jubo Dal, the youth wing of BNP, was attacked while he was going home on his motorcycle. In that incident, five-six masked men beat him up and stabbed him and no case was registered.

When questioned, Anwar Hussain told Prothom Alo, “What is the use of registering a case? If I file a case, the police will not take action; on the contrary, I will have to endure more wrath from the attackers. Then I will even risk my life.” I can lose.” life.”

The next day, on 25 September, Abul Hussain, an assistant teacher at Jagdish High School and a Jamaat activist, was attacked in Atrai upazila. While returning from school on his motorcycle, he was attacked by masked men on an empty road in Malipukur market area in the afternoon.

Abul Hussain is still undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. However, in that incident, Abul Hussain’s wife became the plaintiff and filed a case in Atrai police station.
