In Manikganj’s Saturiya police station, a gold smuggling kingpin beat up a young man, who is being claimed to be a gold carrier.
But the district police said the youth was picked up on the request of a very important person (VIP). However, they were completely unaware that the VIP had called them to help the gold smuggler.
The police did not reveal the name of the VIP.
But the name came up in the investigation of Prothom Aloe. It was Md Shahab Uddin, MP from Moulvibazar-1 constituency, who was also the Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Sultan Miya, the gold smuggler who tortured the youth in the police station, is also a resident of Maulvibazar.
