The CPD made the estimates based on the daily market price and average consumption of people of 17 essential commodities, including fish, meat, pulses (dal), oil, chilli, tamarind, ginger and garlic.
Now a middle class family has to spend 60 per cent of their income on buying food.
According to the CPD, each household had to spend 18,115 taka per month to buy food in 2022, while the cost without fish and meat consumption was 5,688 taka.
According to him, in 2023 the cost of food per family has increased by 25 percent.
