More VGF card distribution in BD

The government has allocated over 5,500 tonnes special VGF rice for distribution among the poor to assist them celebrating the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha festivity in Rangpur division.

Of the allocation, 4,744.79 tonnes VGF rice will be distributed among 4,74,479 distressed families with 10-kg each in all eight districts under Rangpur division, officials said here today.

Besides, 30 tonnes VGF rice will be distributed among the distressed and poorer families in each of the A-category pourasabhas, 20 tonnes in each of the B- category pourasabhas and 10 tonnes in each of the C-category pourasabhas.

The concerned district, upazila administrations and pourasabhas authorities have taken all necessary steps to complete distribution of the special VGF rice before the Eid.

“We have taken all necessary steps to complete distribution of the special VGF rice among the distressed and poor families in Rangpur before the Eid-ul-Azha,” District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer (DRRO) of Rangpur Mokhlesur Rahman told BSS today.

Under the special VGF programme, the government has allocated 750.84 tonnes rice for distribution among 75,084 distressed and poor families in all 83 unions under eight upazilas of Rangpur, he added.

In addition, 30 tonnes VGF rice will be distributed among 3,000 distressed families in Rangpur pourasabha, 20 tonnes among 2,000 families in Badarganj pourasabha and 10 tonnes VGF rice among 1,000 distressed families in Haragach pourasabha.

Besides, 376.88 tonnes VGF rice will be distributed among 37,688 distressed families in Lalmonirhat, 655.98 tonnes among 65,598 families in Gaibandha and 748.71 tonnes among 74,871 families in Kurigram districts.

Another 514.07 tonnes VGF rice will be distributed among 51,407 families in Nilphamari, 959.88 tonnes among 95,988 in Dinajpur, 414.20 tonnes among 41,420 in Thakurgaon and 324.23 tonnes among 32,423 distressed families in Panchagarh.
