Israel has vowed to destroy Hamas after the terrorist group launched an attack across the border from Gaza on October 7, which killed 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took about 240 hostage, according to Israel.
Retaliatory aerial bombardments and ground attacks have killed more than 10,800 people in Gaza, most of them civilians and many of them children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
Netanyahu said Israel has no plans to remain in Gaza for long.
He said, “We do not want to rule Gaza. We do not want to occupy it, but we want to give it and us a better future.” He said Israel “does not want to displace anyone.”
