Portrait of the founder president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was first introduced in paper notes after the liberation in 1971. Then 5tk, 10tk, 100tk note etc had Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s protrait. After his assassination in 1975 those notes were gradually withdrawn.

After taking office in 1996 his daughter Hasina again introduced notes with founder president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait.

Now in the second term in office 1,2 and 5 tk coin with founder president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait is already introduced.

From 11th August 2011, 2 tk note with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s portrait will be introduced.

This the finance secretary signed 2 tk note size will be 100mm, 60mm and will have 2mm wide security thread.
On the left side of the note it will have the portrait of founder president Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and photo of the national mausoleum, on the right watermark of Sheikh Mujib and the symbol of Bangladesh government; Other side of the note will have National symbol Shapla and portrait of Shahid Minar.

Initially Bangladesh Bank Motijheel office will issue this note and later other branches of Bangladesh Bank across the country will issue this note.
