Recently, the bank faced similar pressure to approve some more loan applications, mostly in favor of ‘anonymous’ entities. Sources said the managing director left his post after undue pressure for the loan.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, Mamun Mahmood Shah did not acknowledge the issue and limited himself to saying that there is no working environment in the bank.

The resigning MD said, “I have resigned before the completion of my tenure because there is no working environment in the bank.”

NRB Bank, established under the initiative of migrant entrepreneurs, is one of the three banks that received approval from Bangladesh Bank in 2013.
