During the press conference, RAB-12 Pabna Camp Commander MD Ehteshamul Haq Khan said that a team of the elite force was patrolling in Sujanagar upazila. At around 12.30 in the night the RAB team searched a car. During the search, chairman candidate Mohammad Shahinuzzaman and 10 others were detained with Taka 22,82,700.
The RAB commander said that chairman candidate Shahinuzzaman confessed during preliminary interrogation that he wanted to give money to voters to gain their support. The District Election Officer and Returning Officer have been informed about the incident. Further action against those detained will be taken on the instructions of the Returning Officer.
Returning officer Mahbubur Rahman told Prothom Alo, “I have learned about the incident. The Election Commission has been informed. If the Election Commission gives any instructions then further action will be taken.
