A petition has been filed in the Appellate Division seeking a stay on the High Court order that suspends the government's decision to keep schools open during the holy month of Ramzan.

Assistant Attorney General M Saiful Alam said the petition was filed on Monday seeking a stay on the high court order.

Earlier on Sunday, the high court had suspended government notifications directing primary schools to operate for 10 days and lower secondary and secondary schools for 15 days during the holy month of Ramzan.
