According to the police, the mastermind of the murder Akhtaruzzaman Shaheen also went to Kathmandu from Dhaka via Delhi on May 20. Later he went to Dubai. From there he went back to America.
Sources privy to the investigation said the detained man is a resident of Borhanuddin in Siam Bhola. He is an assistant of Akhtaruzzaman.
Kolkata Police has registered a case at New Town Police Station in connection with the murder of MP Anwarul Azim. Meanwhile, the deceased's daughter Mumtarin Firdaus has lodged another case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station in Dhaka. Kolkata Police and the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) are jointly investigating the case. So far four people have been arrested, three of them from Dhaka and one from Kolkata. A source in Kathmandu said that Kolkata Police is also in touch with Nepal Police in this case.
