Prominent educationalist Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid breathed his last at around 4:40 pm at Apolo Hospital of the capital yesterday. He suffered three strokes in last two months. Eighty eight year old prof. Murshid was admitted to hospital on October 18. He was in coma since last week. His family wanted to fly him to Singapore, but this plan was abandoned because doctors didn’t give any hope.
Prof Khan Sarwar Murshid received Bangla Academy literary award in 2010. He was a teacher of Dhaka University; he also served as vice chancellor of Rajshahi University. He was a member of planning commission of Mujibnaga government in 1971. He was sent as High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Poland after the liberation. He was a trustee board member of Transparency International Bangladesh. His wife Noorjahan was a deputy minister of Sheikh Mujib’s government after the liberation war.
