The candidates for whom some sections close to the government are working include Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury of Trinomool BNP and Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar of Bangladesh Nationalist Movement (BNM), independent candidate Ziaul Haq Mollah, who recently left BNP, expelled BNP Leaders include Major (retd) Akhtaruzzaman. AK Ekramuzzaman, Syed Muhammad Ibrahim from Brahmanbaria, Jatiya Party leader Mashiur Rahman Ranga from Rangpur, Rustam Ali Farazi and Ziaul Haq Mridha from Brahmanbaria, Pir Hussamuddin Chowdhury from Sylhet, Shaheenur Pasha Chowdhury and Saifuddin Maizbhandari from Supreme Party. Some policy makers of Awami League are involved in these activities.
