A long line of policemen formed outside the BNP office as dozens of armored vehicles and prison vans lined the deserted road.
Police blocked the road on Wednesday in the wake of violent clashes between law enforcers and BNP loyalists who gathered outside the party’s central offices in preparation for a divisional rally on December 10. A worker was killed in this clash.
Police later fired teargas shells and lathi-charged to disperse the crowd as several rounds of crude bombs exploded in the area. The road was later closed as police searched the BNP office and allegedly found a cache of crude bombs.
