Rs 500 billion withdrawn by panicked customers coming back to banks: Principal Secretary to PM

The Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister has said that customers panicked and withdrew Taka 500 billion from banks after rumors of a liquidity crisis spread.

Speaking on the concluding day of an annual gathering organized by the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, or BIDS, Ahmed Kaikous said he has started reinvesting the money after realizing his mistake.

He said that even educated people paid heed to rumors aimed at creating panic.
