Expelled Faridpur Press Club president Imtiaz Hasan Rubel and his brother Sajad Hussain Barkat, expelled general secretary of Faridpur City Awami League, came into limelight for their involvement in controversial political activities.

He is considered very close to former Local Government Minister and Faridpur-3 constituency MP Khandakar Mosharraf Hussain. The two brothers were arrested in June 2020 for attacking the house of then district Awami League president Shubal Chandra Saha. According to police and court sources, two separate cases were registered against Sajjad Hussain, Imtiaz Hasan and Rezaul Karim under the Arms Control Act. In one case, Sajjad Hussain and Imtiaz Hasan and Imtiaz Hasan and his associate Rezaul Karim were made accused. Apart from these two cases, nine other cases were registered against the two brothers on various charges including money laundering. The verdict came today after hearing in the arms case.
