Israel’s muted response to al-Sudairi’s appointment likely stems from its many common interests with Saudi Arabia. This is especially true with respect to Iran. Rabi said that although Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to resolve their decades-long enmity in March thanks to Chinese mediation, their relations remain strained. That is why Saudi Arabia is expecting more military cooperation from America.
Israel also sees Iran as a threat to its existence. Indeed, Iran has repeatedly threatened to destroy the country and Israel and Saudi Arabia are united in their opposition to Iran. Incidentally, the US also has a strained relationship with this country.
Rabi said, “To that extent, all parties – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and US President Joe Biden – are interested in reaching an agreement.”
He said, “That is why Israel should take such a step towards the Palestinians that would satisfy Saudi Arabia as well.” “Then reconciliation can move forward.”
