Of the 300 seats in the assembly, women's seats are distributed among parties or coalitions in proportion to the number of seats won.

With the support of 62 independent MPs and two seats of the 14-party alliance, the ruling Awami League got 48 seats, while the Jatiya Party got two reserved seats.

In the 12th parliamentary elections held on January 7, the Awami League won 224 seats, JP got 11 seats and the Workers' Party of the AL-led 14-party alliance won one seat, and JASAD got one seat. Apart from this, Bangladesh Kalyan Party got one seat in the elections.
