Senior performers are being neglected in Bangladeshi TV dramas

0 minutes, 48 seconds Read

Bangladeshi television dramas are going through a peculiar trend. Most of the TV dramas can be called protagonist. Hero and heroine have become the main characters and there are hardly any other characters like father, mother, elder brother, sister, uncle or aunt. Child characters are also missing. Sometimes there are one or two side characters like hero or heroine’s friend. So television dramas are becoming monotonous. Veteran actors and actresses are not getting the opportunity to perform. Young performers are not getting the opportunity to learn from experienced performers with team performance.
In essence family drama is missing in Bangladeshi TV dramas. Some directors have blamed low budget for the situation. They are saying, with very limited budget they can’t afford characters like mother, father, grandmother or grandfather.
But reality is Bangladeshi television channels are losing viewers for their monotonous hero and heroine based love affairs in dramas. Viewers want family drama, which is seen on neighboring Indian television channels.
