It has been told in the survey of Narcotics Control Directorate that drugs are coming from 389 places (points) in 30 districts bordering the country. The maximum number of 43 sites have been identified in Dinajpur. Drugs are coming from 38 places in Feni. There are more than 20 places in Thakurgaon, Nilphamari, Jessore and Khagrachari districts.
The districts are Rajshahi, Chapainwabganj, Naugaon, Joypurhat, Panchgarh, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Khulna, Jessore, Satkhira, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Zenaidah, Kushtia, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Comilla, Rangamati, Jamalpur, Netrakona, Sylhet, Maulvibazar, Habiganj and Sunamganj. . Used for drug trafficking.
Drug consignments are often intercepted in the border districts. Sometimes even politically influential people are caught with drugs. For example, Al Mansoor, the organizing secretary of the Upazila Awami League, was arrested last May in Baliyadangi, Thakurgaon, with 1,500 yaba bullets. A fertilizer and pesticide seller by profession, Mansoor also traded in medicines.
Many people think that it is difficult to do the drug trade locally without paying money to influential people from political parties and law enforcement.
