Shaheed Rafique Jabbar hall will be inaugurated in JU

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities are going to inaugurate Shaheed Rafique Jabbar hall on December 4.

Adviser to the Prime Minister Professor Alauddin is expected to inaugurate the hall as the chief guest while chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Professor Nazrul Islam will attend the function as special guest.

“Accommodating 576 students, the new hall will reduce the pressure of severe seat crisis and we want to maintain the full- fledged residential character of the university”, JU VC Prof. Shariff Enamul Kabir told BSS today.

JU ,the only full-fledged residential public university of the country has been facing a severe accommodation crisis for a long time and the authorities will lay the foundation stone of another hall under name Sheikh Hasina Hall soon, he said.

Sources said, the students have been suffering as the university is going to lose its residential character as more than three thousand students including those in the first year honours are staying outside of the campus.

Professor Dr Shariff Enamul Kabir after becoming VC on February 24, 2009 declared to resolve the accommodation crisis of the students at the quickest possible time.

This newly constructed Shaheed Rafiq Jabbar hall will resolve the problem of accommodation to a great extent, the students in general hope.
