Shannon Sharpe, the Pro Football Hall of Famer turned sports media personality, has addressed a recent controversy involving his Instagram account. On Wednesday, September 11, Sharpe’s Instagram Live broadcast included audio from what appeared to be a sexual encounter, leading to widespread attention and speculation.
In response to the incident, Sharpe took to Instagram to clarify the situation. He posted an update on his Instagram story, stating, “Beware, my @ShannonSharpe84 Instagram was hacked this morning. My team and I are working vigorously to resolve this issue. – UNC.”
The Instagram Live video in question was reportedly recorded with the phone face-down on a table. The background audio features a woman’s breathing and sounds of what seems to be a sexual encounter. During the recording, a male voice, which sounds like Sharpe’s, can be heard making explicit comments such as, “Let me put this d**k in you,” “you know what I like,” and “that’s my Michelle.” Additionally, the woman is heard calling the man “Shannon.”
Sharpe, who is 56 years old, has been a prominent figure in sports media since leaving FS1’s “Undisputed” to join ESPN’s “First Take” last year. He also hosts the popular podcasts “Club Shay Shay” and “Nightcap” alongside fellow NFL legend Chad Ochocinco Johnson.
Throughout his illustrious career, Sharpe was a key player in the NFL, securing three Super Bowl titles—two with the Denver Broncos and one with the Baltimore Ravens. He was a four-time first-team All-Pro, one-time second-team All-Pro, eight-time Pro Bowler, and was honored on the NFL’s 1990s All-Decade Team. His accomplishments on the field have cemented his status as one of the sport’s greats.
As Sharpe and his team work to address the Instagram hack, he continues to focus on his role in sports media and his various professional endeavors.
