Sonia Gandhi is coming tonight. She is the president of India’s ruling Congress party.
She is due to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 9pm.
She is here to attend a conference on autism. Bangladesh government will hand over a posthumous award on behalf of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to Sonia Gandhi.
Foreign minister Dipu Moni and other Government officials will receive her.
Sonia Gandhi will visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi and will place floral wreaths at the National Memorial in Savar.
The conference is titled as “Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Disabilities in Bangladesh and South Asia”. Sonia Gandhi will be the chief guest of the conference. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be the special guest at the conference.
Sonia Gandhi will also meet the president at Bangabhaban.
Sonia is due to leave Dhaka at 9:00pm Monday
Special security arrangement has been made on her honour.
