Rahima Akhter alias Rahi Khushi was LLB student of Cox’s Bazar International University. Vice chancellor has informed media that university authority has suspended the girl’s studentship after report in the media claiming she is from Rohingya community.
German international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle recently released a short video where the university girl was seen taking interviews of Rohingyas in refugee camps. The video report said Rahima Akhter fled Burma to Bangladesh with her family in 1992. Later she managed to admit herself to a local school hiding her identity. She completed SSC and HSC. She also managed to collect Bangladeshi national ID card and admitted to university.
After the recent report on Deutsche Welle she failed to prove her Bangladeshi identity. Vice chancellor of Cox’s Bazar International University has told media that a probe body will send a report to University Grants Commission for final decision.
Rohingyas are one of the most persecuted minority in the world. They are living in Burma for hundreds of years. But Burma has stripped their citizenship and conducting an ethnic cleansing operation there.
