The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) today stayed till December 5 the High Court order freeing Jatiya Party (Japa) President Ghulam Muhammad (GM) Kader to conduct normal party activities was.
The order was passed by Justice M Enayatur Rahman of the Appellate Division Chamber Judge Court after hearing a petition challenging the High Court’s November 29 order. The court also remanded the matter to the regular bench of the Appellate Division for further hearing.
Suspended JAPA leader and former MP Ziaul Haq Mrida filed the writ and advocate Saeed Ahmad Raza filed the petition before the court.
A High Court bench of Justice Sheikh Abdul Awal stayed till January 3 a lower court order that temporarily banned Jatiya Party (Japa) president Ghulam Muhammad (GM) Kader from party activities.
Earlier on November 16, the court of Dhaka First Joint District Judge Masudul Haque had passed the order dismissing Kader’s petition challenging an earlier order in this regard. The court also fixed November 30 for filing written reply and further hearing on the matter.
Suspended party leader and former MLA Ziaul Haq Mrida filed a case against Kader on 4 October and the court issued a preliminary order on 31 October asking him to stay away from party activities.
