In her recent tweet, Taslima Nasreen alleged that prominent Indian writer Sunil Gangopadhyay sexually abused her. Taslima says, not only she, many other young female author and poet were abused by Sunil Gangopadhyay.
Taslima Nasreen is a controversial figure both in Bangladesh and India. Many Islamist groups were angered when her novel Lajja was published in 1994. This novel was on riots between Hindus and Muslims.
She also said, some portion of Quran should be changed to ensure equal rights for woman.
A Bangladeshi court was convinced that Taslima hurt Muslim religious feelings. Taslima fled from Bangladesh and started living in India. She choose Calcutta, capital of West Bengal, a Bengali dominated state of India.
Later her autobiography Dwikhandita was banned both in India and Bangladesh. The allegation was she deliberately tried to defame some prominent writers of Bangladesh. She was forced to flee from Calcutta also.
Writer Sunil Gangopadhyay refused to comment, but he said, Taslima has brought this type of allegation against other prominent writers before.
