Earlier, Shrimangal Railway Station Master Shakhawat Hussain said the engine and two coaches of the Chattogram-Sylhet-bound ‘Udayan Express’ train derailed after hitting a tree that had fallen on the track due to the storm. At 5:00 am, stoppage of train movement.

Train communication between Sylhet and Dhaka as well as the rest of the country had to be suspended immediately.

Later a rescue train from Kulaura reached the spot at around 9:30 am and then at around 11:30 am another rescue train from Akhaura carried out the rescue operation.
