At least two Tunisians, including a child, were killed and five others were missing after their Europe-bound boat capsized off the northeastern coast of the North African country on Saturday, the Coast Guard said.
The vessel carrying 20 Tunisians capsized 120 meters (395 feet) off the beach in Gabes at 2:00 am (0100 GMT), a statement said as the search operation continued.
It said 13 passengers have been rescued.
“Two bodies have been recovered, one of a 20-year-old man and the other of an infant,” the statement said.
