In order to reduce legal problems the (Bangladeshi) parliament passed the local government (Union Parishad) (correction) bill 2010 on 7 October. Thus next UP election will be according to former ward territory.
Local government minister Syed Ashraful Islam submitted the corrected UP bill to the parliament, and was passed.
As the bill was passed there will be no problem to conduct election within December 2010.
It should be noted here that about 4and a half thousand UP are present in the country.
Last UP election was held in 2003. The time of these UP expired in 2008. but due to territory related law the election in these Ups couldn’t be done.
Hence, a little change has been made to facilitate and accelerate the coming UP election
