Urge to protect indigenous people’s right in the draft forest act

The Greater Sylhet Indigenous People’s Forum(GSIPF), a rights organization, urged the government to not to enact the draft amendments of the forest act and wildlife conservation act.

According to the GSIPF, section2 (8) of the draft wildlife conservation act says that the living places of forest people are proposed to be used for tourism in the name of creating Eco Park.

The chairperson of GSIPF made the call while addressing a press conference at Jaitya Press Club in the city.

He also urged unto similar organizations to come forward to protect the rights of the indigenous people
