After the meeting, JPA General Secretary Mujibul Haq said that the letter urged for unconditional talks between the parties. The same letter will also be sent to Awami League and BNP, he said.
“The United States seeks peaceful, free and fair elections and calls on all parties to refrain from violence and exercise restraint,” U.S. Embassy spokesman Stephen Ibeli said in the statement. “The United States does not give preference to any political party over another.”
“The United States urges all parties to engage in dialogue without any preconditions,” he said.
