If you have property worth more than Tk 50 lakh you will have to pay tax. This was disclosed in a meeting of National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuseday.
The new tax is denoted as ‘property Tax’ and will be imposed primarily on people living in the metropolitan areas.
The tax will be imposed primarily on lands and building owners in the metropolitan areas. And this will be fixed based on the market price of the property.
However, no rate has yet been disclosed. There will be a specialized separate body created in this regard.
NBR Chairman Nasiruddin Ahmed and Finance Minister AMA Muhith were present among others at the meeting.
