The Forest Department on Friday arrested 14 fishermen and their leaders (Majhi) in two cases of damaging and stealing cameras installed to count tigers and other animals in the Sundarbans, reports UNB.
Those arrested include Jahangir Hussain, Abdul Wahab, Abul Hussain, Mohammad Mohibullah, Nurul Alam, Abdur Rahim, Amjad Hussain, Amjad Hussain, Asadul Islam, Yunus Ali, Munnaf Ghazi, Ripon Hussain, Babar Ali and Akbar Hussain. They are from different areas of Shyamnagar and Koira Upazila of Satkhira.
In January this year, the department had installed 376 cameras in camera trapping groups on trees to count tigers, deer and boars in the Satkhira range.
