The accident occurred around 4:30 am in the Saratel area on the eastern approach road of the Jamuna Bridge in the upazila.
Fuad Rohani, officer-in-charge of Jamuna Bridge East police station, said a truck loaded with rods was carrying passengers from Dhaka towards northern Bangladesh. The vehicle lost control in Saratel area and fell on the side of the highway, killing 15 people on the spot.
